This week we're celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of
Dummy by Portishead (Go! Beat, 1994), trip-hop trio formed by
Beth Gibbons,
Geoff Barrow and Adrian Utley. If
Blue Lines by
Massive Attack is the most important album of the trip-hop subgenre,
Dummy is by far the most beautiful. Trip-hop was originated in UK around the city of Bristol in the early 90s. Nowadays,
Lana del Rey and
FKA Twigs have many to thank of
Beth Gibbons'
savoir-faire.
